Myers Group Enhances Waste Processing Efficiency with CRS NI
Myers Group sought to improve their waste processing capabilities with a customised waste sorting line that would not only increase efficiency but also enhance safety for their team. Turning to CRS NI Ltd., they collaborated to develop a tailored solution that met their exact needs while allowing for future expansion.
Myers Group sought to improve their waste processing capabilities with a system that would not only increase efficiency but also enhance safety for their team. Turning to CRS NI Ltd., they collaborated to develop a tailored solution that met their exact needs while allowing for future expansion.
The Challenge: Safety and Efficiency Concerns
Before partnering with CRS NI, Myers Group faced operational challenges. Their waste sorting process was heavily reliant on manual labour, with ten workers sorting materials on the floor—an inefficient and potentially hazardous approach. They needed a safer, more structured and automated system that would:
- Increase daily waste processing capacity.
- Improve workplace safety by eliminating floor sorting.
- Ensure sufficient bays for key waste streams with room for future expansion.
Why CRS NI?
Myers Group was already familiar with CRS NI’s reliability and value for money, having previously installed a CRS trommel on-site. This positive experience made them confident that CRS could provide a cost-effective and high-quality solution for their growing needs.
The Solution: A Fully Customised Picking Line
CRS NI worked closely with Myers to design and install a picking line that incorporated:
- A feed hopper for controlled material input.
- A screen deck for material separation.
- Two metal magnets to extract ferrous materials.
- Two blowers for sorting hardcore and midsize waste.
- Five picking bays, with additional capacity for future expansion.
The project was a true collaboration, with Myers Group highlighting the flexibility and expertise of the CRS team:
“We had various discussions with CRS and amended the proposals on a number of occasions to get the desired design right.”
This iterative process ensured that the final solution was not only efficient but also tailored specifically to Myers Group’s operational needs.
Smooth Implementation and Positive Collaboration
From design to installation, the process was transparent and well-structured. Quotes and 3D designs provided clarity, and sensible negotiations ensured the project met both technical and budgetary expectations.
Though challenges arose during and after installation, CRS NI remained committed to problem-solving, working closely with Myers to ensure a successful outcome.
The Results: A Positive Future with CRS NI
While it’s still early to measure the full impact, Myers Group is optimistic about the improvements the new system will bring. The efficiency gains, improved safety, and expanded sorting capacity set the foundation for future success.
Why Myers Group Recommends CRS NI
The partnership with CRS NI stood out for three key reasons:
- Value for money – high-quality solutions at competitive prices.
- Tailored approach – CRS worked closely with Myers to fine-tune the design.
- Commitment to resolving challenges – ensuring a smooth and successful project.
When asked to sum up their experience, Myers Group shared:
“CRS have successfully installed a picking line into our Waste Transfer Station in Huddersfield which has been a major step forward for our operation. We spoke to a number of suppliers as part of the tender process, but felt that CRS equipment offered the best value for money and were accommodating to our needs. We have been pleased with the installation, are benefiting from cleaner waste streams and look forward to working with CRS in the future.“
